When you first become a mother the overwhelming temptation is to buy every book you can get your hands on about how to parent a new baby. It was a much less daunting task when Brandon was little because brick and mortar stores tended to carry only the big-name experts unless you knew to special order something.
But without question, nearly all the books agreed, treat your kids differently. They are individuals! Of course, I thought, confidently. How hard can this be? Our kids have the same parents how different can they be?
It turns out quite different. Brandon is shy; Justin is quite the ham. Brandon loved school; Justin much prefers recess. Brandon hates tomatoes with a passion but Justin loves them.
They have reached common ground though, they both steal my croutons…
